ABOUT

Mike Reichenbach is not a politician. He is a job-creating businessman, a 20-year sworn law enforcement officer, a dedicated community volunteer, and an unapologetic, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment Christian Conservative. Mike is committed to continuing his service to our community - as our State Senator.

In his first term of office, Mike went straight to work and has earned a reputation as a hard-working, conservative leader who advocates on behalf of his constituents in Florence and Darlington counties. He has sponsored and supported legislation to protect tax dollars, support law enforcement, defend the sanctity of life of the unborn, preserve our Second Amendment rights, provide high-quality educational opportunities, and reform the way judges are selected, and more. He takes pride in his office providing professional and responsive constituent services for the Pee Dee.

After his 14-year old birth mother chose life, Mike was adopted by loving parents who instilled in him the value of faith, family, and hard work.

The Valedictorian of his High School, Mike graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Business Degree in Accounting. While earning his MBA from the University of Michigan, Mike met his wife, Charisse, in a Detroit church; and their partnership of more than 25 years was formed.

After years of working with Ford Motor Company, Mike left the corporate world to pursue his entrepreneurial dream of owning a dealership and graduated from the National Automobile Dealers Association Dealer Academy. As Mike and Charisse were searching for their first dealership, they were unwavering in their desire to raise their children in the stability of a solid community – thus, their move to Florence to take over the Ford Lincoln store.

It was 2008, at the very beginning of the recession. But, through God’s grace and mercy, combined with their perseverance and hard work, they succeeded, opened two more dealerships, and have been able to create hundreds of jobs in the region over the years through Mike Reichenbach Automotive. For his leadership, Mike was named the “Businessperson of the Year” by the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce in 2011.

But an even greater impact Mike and Charisse have made in our community comes through their dedication to community service, encompassing law enforcement, health care, philanthropy and education.

Mike was chosen as a member of the inaugural Board of the Francis Marion University School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship. In 2015, he was honored to be named a Charter Member of the Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Entrepreneurial Forum. He also served on the boards for the Florence-Darlington Technical College Foundation and the Francis Marion University School of Business Advisory Board.

In November 2019, Mike successfully launched “Helping Florence Work.” This program’s mission is to make Florence 1 Schools Guidance Counselors and Career Development Facilitators more aware of the significant career opportunities available in the Pee Dee requiring less than a four-year degree, and to empower them to guide students toward rewarding career pathways via quality technical education.

Law enforcement is one of Mike’s heartfelt passions, and he served over 20 years as a commissioned law enforcement officer. After earning his law enforcement commission through the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) as a State Constable in 2009, Mike transferred his State Law Enforcement credentials to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as a Game Warden/Deputy Law Enforcement Officer in 2018. In 2012, he was selected for the U.S. Army War College’s National Security Seminar; and, in 2018, he was promoted to Major in the South Carolina Military Department’s Joint Services Detachment. In 2019, Mike was awarded the South Carolina Military Department’s Certificate of Achievement for extraordinary leadership. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Law Enforcement Advisory Foundation.

Mike was nominated and selected for the Club for Growth Foundation Fellowship Class of 2021, Leadership Florence Class of 2020, Leadership South Carolina Class of 2020, Liberty Fellowship Class of 2019 (an Aspen Global Leadership Network Fellowship), and The Riley Institute’s Diversity Leadership Initiative Class of 2018. Having just completed tenures as the Chairman of the Board of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the Coastal Carolina Hospital Board of Directors, Mike currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the McLeod Health Foundation Board, as well as a Member of the Board of Directors for United Way Association of South Carolina and for First Reliance Bank of SC.

He has also coached multiple youth sports in Florence, including County Rec League girls softball, County Rec League boys baseball, City League boys football, YMCA boys basketball, and Upward boys football.

Mike and Charisse have two children attending the University of South Carolina. The Reichenbach family resides in Florence and are active members of NewSpring Church.
